Lawrencia Adams is an independent consultant and currently the Coordinator of the Learning Network for Capacity Development (LENCD), an informal network aimed at supporting the emerging global community of practice around capacity development. It promotes exchange of knowledge, experience and approaches among practitioners. Members include: UNDP, OECD, ACBF, IBON, NEPAD, WBI. She was recently the Programme Manager for Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness in Ghana (STAR-Ghana), a civil society and governance programme. Prior to this she was the Team Leader of the Ghana Research and Advocacy Programme (G-rap). She has been the Coordinator/Executive Director of the Pan African Organization for Sustainable Development (POSDEV), a consortium of African development NGOs and civil society organizations (CSOs).
Lawrencia has worked with national and international organizations for more than 20 years. She is a senior management and consulting professional in the social development field. Her technical expertise embraces social accountability programme management, policy analysis and policy advocacy; the organizational development of SMES, NGOs, CSOS, Farmer based organizations (FBOs) as well as Rural People's Organizations. She is a gender equality advocate with a focus on formulation of innovative social development programmes for enhancing the status of women. Lawrencia has a very good insight into political economy of poverty in the African context. She is skilled in international policy advocacy, conflict transformation and peacebuilding, strategic planning and impact assessment.. She has experience in managing sub-grants in compliance with donor requirements including USAID, European Union, CIDA, DANIDA and the World Bank.
Lawrencia is a highly self-motivated, well organized, change-oriented, and practical problem solver. She is fluent in English and French and has an excellent working knowledge of Spanish. She holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree in Entrepreneurial Management, as well as Bachelor of Arts Degree and Diplomas in various fields. She has also studied rural sociology. Significant accomplishments include the implementation of Ghana’s NGO standards project and Trust Bill advocacy, efficient management of G-rap to achieve its objectives and the successful launch and operations of STAR-Ghana. She currently serves on the Governing Boards of Access Agriculture, Kenya, The West Africa Rural Foundation, Senegal, and is a Trustee of the Ghanaman CRG Trust Fund, Ghana.
